About: Zum hundertsten Todestag des genialen Komponisten spielt das Orchestre National de France zunächst das großartige Requiem. Für diese Aufführung werden Cristian Măcelaru und sein Ensemble von Véronique Gens (Sopran), Aliénor Felix (Alt), Julien Behr (Tenor) und Nicolas Testé (Bass) begleitet. Unterstützt werden die Solistinnen und Solisten vom Chor von Radio France unter der Leitung von Martina Batič.
Der zweite Teil des Konzertabends ist der berühmten 3. Sinfonie des Komponisten der Romantik gewidmet. Olivier Latry, Titularorganist in Notre Dame von Paris, spielt bei diesem berühmten Werk im Konzertsaal von Radio France die Orgel. Die Sinfonie – von der Royal Philharmonic Society London in Auftrag gegeben und Franz Liszt gewidmet – ist seit ihrer Uraufführung 1886 einer der größten Erfolge von Camille Saint-Saëns und zählt auch heute noch zu seinen meistgespielten Werken.
