Demon's Souls es un RPG en tercera persona creada por el estudio From Software exclusivamente para Play Station 3.
Su historia tiene lugar en el ficticio reino de Boletaria, en el cual, aunque no se precisa la epoca en la que se encuentra, se concluye que es en la edad media, ya que tiene todas sus caracteristicas. Su rey, el rey Allant duodecimo, trajo gran prosperidad a su reino usando el poder de las almas y basando su reino en ellas como una moneda, esto causo' que un demonio llamado "El Anciano", despertara de un sueno profundo en el que se encontraba, El Anciano es un ser demoniaco de un poder supuestamente inimaginable para el ser humano, segun lo relatado a lo largo de la historia, todas las almas de todos los seres vivos terminan en el; tambien se cuenta que el dios en que creian los habitantes de boletaria era el, aunque las personas no lo supieran; este demonio fue encerrado en un nexo ubicado supuestamente en el norte de boletaria,el cual es el lugar en donde se comienza el juego, a medida que avanza la historia se va poblando de algunos personajes que se rescataran en las aventuras que tengamos, los cuales nos ayudaran de distintas formas a lo largo de la historia, la mayoria no lo haran directamente, es decir, a lo largo de los niveles,sino ensenandonos cosas como hechizos y milagros;el objetivo central de nuestro personaje sera' matar cada demonio que queda en el reino de boletaria, estos demonios recolectan almas de todo ser vivo para darsenas al Anciano ya que este no puede recolectarlas solo debido a su encierro en el nexo; se dice que aquel que pierde su alma estando vivo pierde su mente , sus recuerdos y su humanidad convirtiendose en una bestia violenta y sanguinaria, una vez que cada demonio sea eliminado dejara su alma, la cual sera' recogida por nuestro personaje, estas sirven para aprender hechizos, milagros, o para crear armas; por lo que seran parte fundamental del juego; una vez usada en alguno de los usos anteriores se perdera' y no podra' ser regresada al jugador. Una vez eliminados todos los demonios el antiguo hara' su llamada al personaje desbloqueando el evento final del juego.

En esta gran aventura acompanaremos a Lighting, antiguo miembro del ejercito del Nido cuyo destino le lleva a ser marcada por un fal?Cie. Lejos de querer acatar las normas impuestas por su condicion de lu?Cie, se sumerge en una aventura donde seran cuestionados los estrictos procedimientos del Sanctum, desveladas verdaderas conspiraciones y potenciadas las relaciones entre la protagonista y sus companeros de fatigas, entre los que se encuentran la carismatica Vanille, el poderoso y arrogante Snow, el simpatico Sazh o el pequeno Hope. Todos ellos comparten su condicion de lu?Cie a traves del vinculo con el mismo fal?Cie, lo que les llevara' a enfrentarse juntos a un peligro de proporciones epicas.
Bajo este contexto dramatico se desarrolla Final Fantasy XIII, un videojuego de Rol japones ambientado en un mundo de gran fantasia y diversidad conceptual, cuyo planteamiento se centra en el desarrollo de un elaborado argumento. Tal es asi' que, lejos de poder considerarse como un videojuego de rol al uso, Final Fantasy XIII expone nuevos canones interactivos que no dejaran indiferente a nadie.
