‎19 Years of Service‎
El Glam Metal (Glamour Metal), influenciado en imagen por el Glam Rock de los 70' como David Bowie, T-Rex, New York Dolls o Alice Cooper y musicalmente por bandas de Hard Rock como AC/DC, Kiss y Aerosmith, surge a fines de los 70 en Los Angeles, California. Tuvo mucha popularidad durante toda la década del 80' y principios de los 90'.


Con la creciente popularidad de nuevos géneros como el Grunge, solo algunas bandas lograron mantenerse viables durante los 90'; la única banda que logró mantenerse hasta el día de hoy es Bon Jovi.


También es llamado Hair Metal en un término más despectivo, por la tendencia de muchas de estas bandas de batirse el cabello con spray fijador.

Twisted Sister es una banda estadounidense de Glam Metal formada en la ciudad de Nueva York. Su trabajo fusiona las tácticas impactantes de Alice Cooper, el humor rebelde de la nueva ola del metal britanico (NWOBHM), el estilo de New York Dolls y el extravagante maquillaje de KISS. El grupo tiene una imagen de Glam Metal e implenta un sonido como el de las clásicas bandas de Heavy Metal como Judas Priest y Motörhead, al igual que algunas bandas de Glam Metal como Poison y Ratt. Dee Snider, el vocalista del grupo, dijo en una entrevista:
Yo no pienso que Twisted Sister es "Glam", porque eso implica glamour, y nosotros no somos glamorosos. Deberíamos ser llamados "Hor" ("Hid"), por que somos horrendos (hideous). Aunque la banda fue formada por el guitarrista Jay Jay French en 1973, todas sus canciones fueron escritas por el vocalista, Dee Snider. Los éxitos del grupo incluyen "We're Not Gonna Take It" y "I Wanna Rock", ambos popularizados por la continua aparición en MTV en los años 80s. Muchas de las canciones de la banda exploran los conflictos de padres contra hijos y critican el sistema de educación.

Cinderella, es una banda estadounidense de glam metal. Su formación original es Tom Kiefer (voz y guitarra), Jef LaBar (guitarra), Eric Brittingham (bajo) y Fred Coury (batería). El sonido de la banda tiene claras influencias del rock & roll de AC/DC y la fusión del blues y el rock de bandas como Led Zeppelin y Rolling Stones.
Su primer álbum, "Night Songs" (1986), bastante rockanrollero, acorde al sonido de la época, vendió 3 millones de copias y alcanzò el puesto 3 en las listas estadounidenses. Entre sus temas destacados están "Shake Me" y la balada "Nobody's Fool". En 1989, repiten el gran éxito del primer disco con "Long Cold Winter". De un sonido más bluesero y de influencias setenteras. La balada "Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)", el medio tiempo "Coming Home" y las rockeras "The Last Mile" y "Gypsy Road" fueron la clave del impulso comercial del álbum. Con "Heartbreak Station" (1990), continuaron en la misma senda musical, que tuvo como arreglista a John Paul Jones, bajista y tecladista de Led Zeppelin. Este disco no alcanzó el éxito esperado. Sus singles destacados fueron la balada que le dà el nombre el disco y "Shelter Me"
Tiempo después, Fred Coury se marchó de la banda. Y en 1994 publicaron "Still Climbing", que pasó desapercibido en un momento en que el Grunge y el Rock Alternativo, estaban en alza.
Luego de estos inconvenientes deciden separarse. Sin embargo en la actualidad están juntos haciendo giras para recordar viejos tiempos y satisfacer al público que gusta de su música.

Tremendos rosquetasos, el único que sobrevivió un tiempo fue el tío Dee Snider, pero Cinderella nunca fue un grupo que tuviera mucho pegue, a pesar de sus buenas baladas para escuchar mientras uno hacía mañoserías con la hembrita de turno.
Respetos nomás para el maestro Alice Cooper, con ese cuñado creo que se inició y murió el glam metal, aunque ahora ya decaido un poco su producción musical

Def Leppard es una banda británica de Heavy Metal originaria de Sheffield, Inglaterra, que comenzó a finales de los años 70, y que alcanzó su éxito en la década de los 80 acercando el heavy metal a las emisoras de radio y al gran público en general, gracias a la mezcla de rock melódico con un gran trabajo vocal.

Para mi gusto el mejor album de Twisted Sister fue el You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll... y el que le sigue, el mas conocido de todos, Stay Hungry.

Bueno en verdad yo no se por que insisten en considerar como bandas metal a grupos como Korn o Pantera... No lo entiendo en verdad estas bandas hacen cualquier cosa menos METAL... Pantera al menos tiene unos 3 o 4 temas interesantes pero que sean Metal??? Porf favor!!!!!!!!!!!! Y ese grupete de porqueria llamado korn calificarlo como banda Metal????... Por favor hagan un esfuerzo y este 20 de febrero vayan a ver y escuchar a una de las primeras bandas que crearon los primeros riffs de metal en la historia: DEEP PURPLE (una lastima que no vengan ni Blackmore ni Lord)... Y no me vengan con que korn y pantera son la evolución y todas esas tonterias!!!!!!!
