Good morning. RT here. I see the word vedette used here and there, and I have no clue what it means. I *think* that it is a complimentary description, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

OK, it's the literal translation. But, the friend wants to know the significance belonging to that word, used in the environment than we frequented. The term vedette is used with the generalized meaning of principal Artista that works on a variety show. Greetings

Hi RT + cofrades, I vaguely remember that the vedette being the star of the show has something to do with French marine slang, Bateau Vedette being some sort of flagship. Rather interesting is the Peruvian recipe for the making of a vedette: Good singing may be, good dancing can be, huge boobs + ass MUST BE Cheers! BTW I shouldve been in FLL a couple of days ago, but the @#^*&@-snow forced me to accept 2 days of hospitality in Phillys Intl Arport What a mess!

Thanks, guys. So on the page for the Eclipse Club, the term Bellas Vedettes is, more or less, "beautiful entertainers." You guys are the best!

It is a term that is loosely used for the girls that sing and dance backup for popular singers or backup scenery on the "peruvian variety shows". They work privately at parties for "well heeled gentleman". Generally her measure of value is closely associated with "who" she has reputably dated in the recent past. The more popular ones ineveitably wind up on "magaly" which further enhances their stature. LB

In our country the term "vedette" is used for women whose job is entertain men in a sexual way. That is to say they have to dance wearing epecial clothes simillar to "thongs". It's not necessary they're able to sing. The majority of them use silicone implants in their breast and buttocks in order to catch the attention of male public. Some of those women appears frequently in tabloids and gossip programmes with footballers.

one more thing, apart of what Titlover said, is that sometimes this "vedettes" work as top escorts, so the way to keep in touch with them is really a secret, mainly because of their public appearances; for the record one of this vedettes could cost you an approximately of 500 to 1500 bucks an hour, which is a little bit high for our economical standards in Lima and in some big cities, for example Arequipa, this "vedettes" make their shows at some exclusive night clubs, so it is 0nly just a matter of luck to ask to some waitress if the lady could give some extra service or not

vedette, in colloquial french, means "star of the show", for example, if you were to see " Paula en vedette" it would mean that Paula was the star. Bellas Vedettes would likely mean the "beautiful stars of our show", or on occasion "star performers" Whenever I'm trying to get rid of some annoying chica in Peru I just speak french to her and pretend that I don't speak any english or spanish. It's fun to watch the gamut of expressions on their faces as they try to communicate with me. It's even more fun to hear what they say to their friends. lol. It's the 0nly use for french I've ever had in Latin America.
