Can anyone give me more info on the different rooms for MAria Luisa.

Matrimonal is 18 USD a night

Jr Suite is 26 USD a night

    Sr Suite is 37 USD

Damn that is cheap! I am staying 7 or 8 nights. I do not plan on cooking but fridge is nice.

Are the sr suites worth if if you are staying 7 nights?

In that it is so cheap 37 does not bother me.

I was considering the Maria Luisa, but I could never get any info regarding a/c, which is a must for me.

I stayed last year in both the Jr. suite and the matrimonial. It is very clean, quiet, comfortable, safe, girl friendly and with a perfect location. Not the Marriott, mind you, but hardly a dump. I suppose it had air-conditioning but I can't swear to it as I was there in June. I know the room temperature was perfect. Even the least expensive room had a safe, carpet, TV with free extensive cable and a porn channel all the girls tuned to. The girls liked it there too. There is free internet in the lobby but no privacy, so I went to an internet cafe for my PeruTop research. The reception staff (all girls) was great; friendly and attractive. Not "that" friendly that I could tell, as I 0nly flirted a little and was reluctant to be absolutely direct or ask one of them out. My 0nly complaint was the slow (glacial) room service. I am hesitant to post this as upon my return from Cuzco without reservations I had to take the more expensive, yet inexpensive, Jr. Suite for a few days. I didn't need the living room or kitchenette. Check it out at http://www.hotel-marialuisa.com/ The closest hotel, I think, to Tequila Rocks. Pura Vida!

I stayed in both the JR suite and the one with the large jacuzzi. I liked the Jacuzzi room better as I never went in the other room in the JR suite :) The Jac. room has a great balcony for people watching

    Greetings,
I read all the messages on the Maria Luisa. A couple of questions:
    1) Does the room have a "safe" to store your cash and valuables? If not, is there a safe box in the reception area.
    2) It is clear there is no A/C in the rooms. If required, can I open the room window?

    Thanks.

    1. The ML safe is not permanently installed. Upon request, the "guy on duty" will schlep one to your room. I'd prefer one permantly installed, cuz if it can be schlepped in... it could be schlepped out. Still - better than no safe at all.
    2. The windows CAN be opened, but many lead to an outdoor walkway (mine did)... which leads to potential security issues.

Despite the above, I had no safely/security issues staying there, and would do so again.

    Hi Lord,

Yes indeed, however, the signal is week and your room must be near the lobby or you can get any of the rooms facing south (towards alcanfores) where you can pick up the signal from a nearby hotel.
I am on the 2nd floor, fairly close the to lobby.
I'll be in ML until the 23rd.
    Ask for Jockey.
    Later,

My room had a built-in safe, the matrimonial. I guess maybe not all do. It has been too long since I've been to Lima and hope to get back in early 2009. When I was there last, they were good about answering Emails. I suggest you visit their site and then write with any questions. I also recommend you confirm reservations. I got in without one but later they were turning away business.

How far in advance should I reserve? It sounds like a very suitable place for yo mismo.

It's better to book your reservation a few days in advance. Be aware that the cheaper rooms are booked quickly.

wireless internet is available but if you're on an upper floor then forget it. 3rd floor or below. That being said, there's a desktop internet terminal in reception for general guest use at no charge.

They do have safes, but they are portable safes. Still, they are heavy, and there's 0nly one way in/out, so it's unlikely that anyone will sneak it out through reception.

There are 0nly two Jacuzzi rooms there (#401, and #405), and both of these rooms have balconies. In #401 the shower/jacuzzi is in the bedroom with you, and in #405 the jacuzzi is in a separate area.

The "suites" are fine for the price, but the way they are set up in most of them you generally wouldn't use the "lounging" area anyway, except to go the fridge which is also there.

if you stay in the Maria Luisa try to get lower floors (4th or below) as in the upper floors the hot water is a little weird. You think you don't have any for the longest time and then poof! it's there. The response seems a bit weird and you have to continually juggle the water to get the right temperature. This is not so much an issue on the lower floors.

The rooms are simple and clean. if you don't turn your key in at the desk when you leave then they don't clean your room. Room service is brutal, and forget about the breakfast they advertise, because they never have staff there to make it, but if you just want glasses or plates then you can just go up to the kitchen/party room on the top floor and help yourself. It 0nly takes seconds to do it.

All in all, good value for the money, and you absolutely can't beat the location.

No, it is a regular hotel for tourists and doesn't house working girls. They are, however, tolerant with any female visitor you may wish to invite to your room.

yes, they are very chica friendly, but 0nly one chica at a time. They will not allow you to take more than one up. To do so you need to have a friend check one in for you, if multiples is what you want. Surprisingly, they're not even open to modest bribery, and it doesn't seem to matter how friendly they are with you (and the staff there is very nice), they just won't turn a blind eye to the second chica. Make sure she has ID too.

    Hello everyone,

I'm curious if extra "guest" is allowed if you have a "simple room"(S/70)? Is the bed full/queen size?

If by extra guest you mean can you take a girl in with you then the answer is yes, in no matter what room you are staying. If by extra guest you mean can you take more than one girl then the answer is no.
