RT here. Last Sunday was the Christmas Party for the kids, organized by Peruanos Solidarios, which is a mix of the foristas here and some 'civilian' members of the community, and one Gringo. The local guys and girls raised money during the year, shopped for the gifts and party supplies, did the site selection, and generally handled all of the coordination. Mostly, the English Forum helped out by raising some funds. We drove two hours last Sunday to Haural, north of Lima, to an area which can be generously described as: terrible. After arriving, we unloaded the truck (the kids loved climbing in the truck as much as anything else that day), gave out Panneton and Chocolate Milk to all the kids (and a lot of the moms, too), then there was a show with a DJ, a Clown and Dancing Girls. After that, the kids lined up, and everybody received a wrapped gift. The guys told me that there were around 150 gifts, but by my unofficial count, there were about 879047346204 kids -- they just kept on coming. Anyway, everyone had a great time, and it was really rewarding for all of us to help give these kids a day that they really enjoyed. The theme this year was "For More Happy Little Faces," and from my point of view, it was Mission Accomplished. It's never too early to make your travel plans for next year, and whatever you're planning to do for the holidays in 2016, I promise you that coming with us will be more fun. Write me if you want to come along, or remember -- it's never too early to throw some bucks into the pot for next year. Enjoy the photos -- click to enlarge. We also made about ten baskets of 'house stuff' - Rice, Milk, Canned Meat, Chocolate, etc... those went to some of the, er, senior members of the community.
