LA BODEGA DE LA TRATTORIA - ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN LIMA - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS I visited this Peruvian/Italian chain style restaurant in July and ordered their pizza chorizo salteado con hongos con masa delgada for 34 soles (thin crust sausage pizza with mushrooms). The pizza was good and I will order it again. Finding good pizza by American standards in Lima is not the easiest thing to do. One thing that this restaurant skimps on is giving customers smaller bottles of water and soda. As a point of reference, a standard personal sized bottle of soda in Lima is around 500ml. This restaurant 0nly gives you a 350ml sized bottle . See pic of my pizza. Ver el archivo adjunto 62068

Joe, Have you tried Pizza Hut's pizza in Lima? I'm not too crazy about pizza, and much less in Lima, but their pizzas tasted pretty much the same as in the states. They had a two large one topping pizzas for 39 soles special (Wow Box). I tried their location next to Larcomar.

Call me a troll on this post, but if I ever fly to Lima, and I walk right past Central Restaurant, AND then go to the KFC next to LarcoMar, AND then order their Pizza (much less two boxes), please notify my family to take power of attorney on all of my banking and brokerage accounts, because I have gone totally insane.

As far as pizzas are concerned in Lima, I'd go for La Romana - the Gran Romana Pizza is pretty good and stands out better than Pizza Hut. Actually, I really enjoy the lasagna from La Romana more than their pizzas.

LOL. I meant Pizza Hut. I made the correction above. Hey, I was traveling with the family and it's hard for kids used to US fast food to give up on Pizza. Even when we are on vacation. I couldn't help it and tried a slice (cheese). Speaking of witch, what happened to Domino's? My kids' favorite. Their location on Benavides was closed.

Domino's Pizza has closed all of its locations all over Perú last February. They say they have entered a "restructuring" process but... I believe they are just putting the local owner of the franchise out of business. What happened was that, over a very short period of time, a couple of their locations were closed by the authorities after finding rats, rat droppings and cockroaches in their kitchens. And to top that, a cockroach found in one of their delivery pizzas was widely reported by the press and it went viral over the web, memes included. The authorities closed just the affected locations and 0nly for the short term specified by law, reopening subject to inspection, but Domino's Pizza's central offices in USA decided to temporarily close all of their locations in Perú and audit the entire operation (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/af...s-rodents-force-Dominos-Pizza-close-Peru.html). I don't think they will reopen until and unless they find someone else to buy the franchise here. .

That's it! Next time we're there together, your kids can't come with us to eat. Your wife, sure. She's adventurous.

Thanks for the info, Jack. That was a drastic decision to close all locations and leave so many people out of work. Not to mention the loss of capital of the local franchise owners. I hope they resolve whatever the issue and re-open soon.

THE OLIVE GARDEN ITALIAN FOOD - CHACARILLA, LIMA There is one Olive Garden restaurant in Chacarilla, Lima, located on calle Primavera and close to calle Velasco Astete. The sign above the entrance of the restaurant says "Olive Italian food", I couldn't help but chuckle to myself about the sign. I was in the mood for americanized italian food and found what I was looking for. I went in July 2015 and ordered their pollo scampi (chicken scampi with angel hair pasta) for 36 soles. The restaurant offered complimentary breadsticks with either soup or salad with the entree, just like in the states. I enjoyed the food and have visited several times to try other items on the menu. Here is a pic of my pasta: Ver el archivo adjunto 62144

You've never been to an Olive Garden in the US? I envy you. They are to Italian Food what Red Lobster is to Seafood.
